Caffeine Makes Your Skin Age Faster

The beauty industry is a billion-dollar industry that banks on people believing that there is something wrong with them. I believe not many people readily embrace growing older because of what the industry has made it mean to become “old.”
Some people are willing to go above and beyond to achieve a specific appearance — one that they will be satisfied with when they look in the mirror. Procedures range from phenol peels which use carbonic acid and phenol to peel layers of the skin off to show a more radiant appearance (may induce heart arrythmia and death) or micro-needling your own blood or PRP into your face. Could be salmon sperm facials, snail mucin, CO2 laser or even injecting fillers in their face to improve the appearance of lines and texture. There are so many types of treatments out there.
What if we shifted some of that focus from external procedures to look young, to what we can do from the inside to keep that collagen abundant in our skin for longer?
This One Change Could Preserve Your Youthful Skin
One of the best NATURAL and UNDERRATED WAYS to PRESERVE YOUR YOUTHFUL SKIN, joints and hair is modulating your caffeine intake.
Here are three studies which outline the ways caffeine works against your youthful appearance:

1) Caffeine reduces collagen and hylauronic acid production by 92%! Collagen and hylauronic acid (HA) are what supports supple and elastic skin, fluid health joints and painless movement. HA is known to be injected into the face as a “safer” dermal filler. (source: Influence of caffeine and hyaluronic acid on collagen biosynthesis in human skin fibroblasts – PMC)
2) Caffeine impairs wound healing — although caffeine has antioxidant properties, it also inhibits keratinization and skin regeneration. This is impactful for those with Diabetes who are already at a disadvantage with wound healing. (source: The effects of caffeine on wound healing)
3) Caffeine impairs cartilage formation and bone growth. Caffeine negatively impacts bone matrix formation and bone mineralization. This is a reason why children and teens should not OD on caffeine AND why women who have osteopenia should be very cautious with the amount of caffeine intake. (source: Longitudinal bone growth is impaired by direct involvement of caffeine with chondrocyte differentiation in the growth plate – PMC)
How To Dial Back The Caffeine:

1) Decide you’re only going to have it on the weekends. Friday-Sunday.
2) Do HALF the caffeine you normally do. If you have 3 cups every day, reduce to 1.5 cups every day.
3) Cut energy drinks and coffee with green tea or mushroom coffee. Green tea contains L-Theanine which promotes calming and reduces anxiety. Mushroom coffee contains black tea which is still less than coffee or your Celsius — and it has powerful immune regulating mushrooms in it.
4) Drink caffeine with a purpose, not habit. Use caffeine BEFORE you workout, have to expend a lot of mental energy/focus or doing a task that requires a lot of physical exertion.
